PSI with more than 900 exhibitors and many activities: Advertising efficiency of promotional products is a central theme
"Let's celebrate something great": The motto of PSI 2012 in Düsseldorf speaks for itself. For the 50th anniversary of the largest promotional products trade fair in Europe, visitors can expect not only far more than 900 exhibitors for the first time but also many innovations in the layout planning of the fair, special shows, lectures and activities. Once again, the PSI covers a large range of themes. Besides new products and inventions, it offers information on the value chain of promotional products, finishing technologies, product protection, market strategies and much more.
Of particular importance in this context is the first Europe-wide empirical study on the advertising efficiency of promotional products which will be presented to manufacturers, distributors, associations and the press by the Association of the German Advertising Industry (Gesamtverband der Werbeartikelwirtschaft - GWW e.V.) during the opening ceremony on the first day of the fair. The study focuses on the question of how the media value of promotional products can be measured and rated in comparison with other advertising media. "The issue is of enormous significance for the industry", says PSI Director Michael Freter. "It is a big opportunity for the promotional products industry to further demonstrate its capabilities. We are delighted, therefore, that efficiency research will be one theme at the coming PSI."
Novelties, inventors and start-ups: new concept of HALLE13 is working
Visitors can also look forward to HALLE13 which comes up with a new concept. With 30 inventors already registered to present their ideas here, a booked-out Young and Innovative Companies' Forum and THE WALL, HALLE13 promises to be a resounding success. All those looking for new developments will find them here.
Another new feature in HALLE13 is the Meet & Greet Area. Here the value chain of a promotional product is portrayed - from the product idea to product design, legal consultation and patent application, quality testing, collaboration with a manufacturer and/or distributor, issues relating to customs and counterfeit products through to sustainability requirements and disposal options. Every day from noon to 2 p.m., the Meet & Greet Area offers participants short lectures combined with a snack in a Lunch & Learn format. On the first day, the value chain theme will be looked at in even more detail. Guests will include representatives of the Nuremberg inventors' fair iENA and of the German customs authority. Lectures on the second day will be arranged by associations such as GWW, eppa, bwg or BWL and focus on a variety of international, industry-relevant themes looked at from an association point of view. Finally, on Friday the Meet & Greet Forum offers lectures on (distributor) qualification in the promotional products industry. In this context, a job exchange will also be held on the same day. Here distributors, manufacturers and associations have the opportunity to post up-to-date job offers.
A guest at the Meet & Greet Forum is the Solingen Museum Plagiarius which has been part of PSI repeatedly in the past and, in cooperation with the Düsseldorf Main Customs Office, presents an exhibition on the theme of product and brand piracy. The aim of the exhibition is to once again raise awareness of the problem within the promotional products industry and to provide more information on the risks confronting for companies and their customers due to such imitations.
The heart of HALLE13 and central point of reference for exhibitors and visitors is the PSI stand. It offers a sourcing, online and rebooking lounge as well as a catering area. In cooperation with Crow'n'Crow the latter will be the scene of the daily "50 Years of PSI Trade Fair Cocktail Happy Hour" which will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday and from 2 to 4 p.m. on Friday. For exhibitors there will also be the "Rheinfest" offering Düsseldorf specialties at the PSI stand on the day preceding the start of the fair and commencing at 4 p.m.
Keeping track: Guided Theme Tours
The Guided Tours which were organised for the first time at PSI 2011 will again offer trade visitors guided walks to the companies of interest to them. On all three days of the fair, visitors are taken to the major exhibitors and special areas of the respective field of interest. In short presentations, the exhibitors inform visitors about their latest products and innovations. The themes of the Guided Tours at the coming PSI are product innovations, first-time exhibitors, inventors and brand products. Celebrate and support a good cause
Take home a souvenir and support a good cause at the same time - visitors will have this opportunity at PSI 2012. In the foyer of Hall 9, visitors can have a T-shirt printed with the PSI design and buy it at a price of euro. After the fair, the entire proceeds will go to the Children's Hospice "Regenbogenland" in Düsseldorf. The screen-printing process used in production can be experienced live at the fair.
